    Social Media Posts by Employees: When Online Behaviour Can Lead to Disciplinary Action

    Log sochte hain ki social media “personal space” hai – jo chahe likho. Lekin jab bio me company ka naam ho, ya posts colleagues, clients, company policies ko target karein, to employment law game me aa jata hai.

    Off-duty conduct bhi consequences la sakta hai agar directly employer ki reputation, confidential info, or workplace relationships ko hit kare. Example: racist/abusive public posts, client data leak, trade secrets share, sexual comments on colleagues’ photos, illegal activity bragging, etc. Employers is basis pe warnings, suspension, ya even termination tak kar sakte hain, specially agar policy clearly exist ho.

    Employees ke paas bhi rights hote hain – private opinions, lawful union activity, genuine whistle-blowing ko sirf isliye punish nahi kiya ja sakta kyunki boss hurt ho gaya. Courts context, intent, impact and policy language sab weigh karte hain.

    Safe rule:
    – Confidential info kabhi bhi post mat karo,
    – Hate speech, threats, harassment avoid karo,
    – Employer ka name use karte waqt extra careful raho,
    – “Screenshots last forever” yaad rakho.

    Digital footprint aur employment ab totally alag worlds nahi rahe.
